Daniel Farke’s injury crises over the last month has flipped Leeds’ squad depth on its head, going from having a lot of midfield and winger cover, to being quite light in both areas.
Dan James’ hamstring issue meant he was a doubt for this weekend, but he clearly came through late assessment to start against Plymouth Argyle.
Since returning from his Fulham loan last season and coming back into the Championship, James has proven himself to be a vital presence in Farke’s side, including adding consistency in the final third.
His latest contribution was putting Leeds in the ascendancy against Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth, picking up the ball from Willy Gnonto 20 yards from goal and toe-poking a shot under pressure beyond Dan Grimshaw in the Pilgrims goal:
It takes James onto two goals for the season, yet to provide an assist, but coming off the back of a very impressive 13 goals and eight assists last term.
