Dak Prescott Reveals What Green Bay Packers Did Right in Win vs. His Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott gave credit where it is due. He admitted the Green Bay Packers really came prepared for them, and it paid off big time.
The Packers became the first seventh seed in NFL history to win a playoff game after taking down the Cowboys in their Wild Card showdown on Sunday, 48-32. It was a complete Dallas destruction for Green Bay, leading from start to finish and never giving Prescott’s side any chance at all.
After an Aaron Jones rushing TD capped off their opening 12-play, 75-yard drive, it was a Packers game all night long. The team made it 27-0 late in the second quarter, courtesy of a Darnell Savage pick-six.
The Cowboys were able to score before the end of the first half, but they were never really able to get anything going offensively. While they did score 32 points, 16 of it came in the fourth quarter in garbage time when the game was already settled and there was no chance of a Dallas comeback.
In his postgame presser, Prescott was asked if he believes the Packers did more preparation in film, resulting to their incredible display on Sunday night. The Cowboys QB responded by highlighting that it’s not necessarily the case, adding his belief that Green Bay simply took advantage of the routes they can read and went from there.
“No, not necessarily. I mean it’s not stuff that they show on film. If you go back in and look at the season, the teams that have had success against our offense, that’s what they have done,” Prescott explained, via the Forth Worth Star-Telegram.
“They came out and didn’t play much man. They combo’d some things, read some routes and right there, that was an example of them being prepared for that and jumped it. They read me better than I read them, unfortunately.”
Dak Prescott finished the game with two interceptions, so it’s clear the Green Bay Packers really prepared for him. He also struggled to connect with his wide receivers, as proven by the fact that they weren’t able to score up until the closing seconds of the first half.
