Aston Villa have suffered an injury scare ahead of their clash with Everton. Defender Ezri Konsa was forced off during England’s win over Finland on Tuesday in the UEFA Nations League.

Konsa went down in the second half of the clash at Wembley and tried to continue after receiving treatment. The centre-back was unable to continue though, sparking fears for Villa ahead of the weekend’s match.

The severity of the problem is unclear at this stage, although the 26-year-old appeared to be feeling his lower leg.

After the game, England interim manager Lee Carsley shared an update: “Yes, I think he is [okay]. I’ve not had a chance to see him because I’ve been speaking to the press, but he looked okay when I saw him.”

Konsa has been an ever present for Villa so far in the top flight, meaning his absence would be a blow for manager Unai Emery.

The Midlands club have a significant injury list as things stand and in addition to Konsa they could be without five more players for this weekend’s game. According to Birmingham Live, Villa have Diego Carlos back again, although the match will likely come too soon for Tyrone Mings.

Everton head to Villa looking for their first point of the new Premier League season, having lost all three of their opening games. Their opponents have won two and lost one to begin the new campaign.
