Rangers Injury Update: Third Baseman Josh Jung Out For Eight To 10 Weeks Following Broken Right Wrist Surgery

The team announced on Wednesday, that Jung, who was originally projected to miss about six weeks, will now miss 8 to 10 as the operation in Phoenix was more complicated than expected.

Rangers general manager Chris Young shared, that Jung successfully underwent surgery on his fractured wrist, but the procedure revealed a bit more extensive damage than expected.

On Wednesday, The Dallas Morning News reported that the repairs were “a little bit more involved than appeared” on the initial X-rays.

Jung, 26 was involved in the injury after being hit by a pitch in Monday’s 9-3 road win against the Tampa Bay Rays, placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

On Monday night, he was hit by a pitch from Tampa Bay reliever Phil Maton on a swinging strike in the ninth inning of the Rangers’ 9-3 win.

An All-Star who had finished fourth in American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2023 despite missing 40 games due to a fractured thumb.

Last season, Jung hit .266 with 23 home runs and a .781 OPS and batted .308 with a .867 OPS in the postseason for the World Series champions.

The 26-year-old posted a .266/.315/.467 slash line with 23 homers, 70 RBIs, and 75 runs in 122 games. While in the Rangers’ run to their first World Series championship, Jung batted .308 with 3 home runs, 8 RBIs, and 13 runs in 17 playoff games.
