Leeds United ready offer to sign Fenerbahce star Michy Batshuayi

Leeds United will make an offer to sign Michy Batshuayi this summer if they are promoted back to the Premier League, according to Fotomac.

Writing on their website (4 May), the Turkish news outlet report that the Whites are waiting on the Belgium international and are preparing an offer for the end of the season having already held talks with his reps.

The 30-year-old is out of contract this summer but the Istanbul club hold an option to extend that deal by a further 12 months and plan to exercise it, but should Daniel Farke’s side return to the top-flight via the playoffs they are planning to make an offer anyway to bring him to Elland Road.

Leeds United need a reliable goalscorer

Leeds have now missed out on automatic promotion after a poor run of form in the final weeks of the season, but a big issue all season has been a lack of reliable goalscorer in the number nine position.

Patrick Bamford has had hot streaks of form but isn’t someone to hang your hat on, while Joel Piroe has only managed two goals in his last 15 appearances.

Michy Batshuayi

Having someone in the team who can reliably hit the net on a regular basis would have been a huge boost to the team, and Batshuayi is one of the best around that is realistic for the Whites.

Having won the Premier League with Chelsea earlier in his career, scoring the goal that sealed the title, he has great top-flight experience and would surely be an asset to Farke’s system.

But without Premier League football to offer him it’s surely just a pipe-dream. So securing promotion via the playoffs has to be the priority, and any transfer talks will follow that.
