Coventry City boss explains why Plymouth call upset Callum O’Hare
Coventry City news from CoventryLive as Mark Robins explains why Callum O’Hare was left out of he matchday squad at Plymouth
Mark Robins explained Callum O’Hare’s absence at Plymouth, revealing that the Coventry City forward required a much-needed rest. The Sky Blues boss admitted, however, that the decision didn’t go down too well with the player whom, he revealed, was desperate to travel and play a part at Home Park.
“He’s gone from 0 to 100 miles per hour after 12 months (out injured) and it was always going to catch up with him,” said the City manager, speaking after the 2-2 draw at Home Park. “He’s a bit sore, and to sit him on a bus for ten hours and expect him to play for 20 minutes wasn’t on, because I couldn’t have started him. So I am hoping the rest does him good.
“He was disappointed, one hundred percent upset and disappointed he couldn’t make it but ultimately it’s the right decision, and hopefully we’ll get the benefit from that on Saturday.”
Asked if that was the right reaction he wanted from the influential player, he said: “Absolutely, but you know what he’s like, he just wants to play games; he’s that kid who wants to play every minute of every game. But he knows it’s the right decision.
“We’re looking after him and it’s in his best interests. But, like I say, hopefully that will be of benefit to us at the weekend and we can go and back this up and have the fire in their bellies to get a win away at Stoke.
