Braves activate Ozzie Albies from 10-day injured list
Ozzie Albies returns to the active roster after missing eight games with a fractured toe
The Atlanta Braves are getting a big piece of their lineup back for their series against the Cleveland Guardians. The Braves announced Friday that they have reinstated Ozzie Albies from the 10-day injured list. Albies takes the roster spot of David Fletcher, who was outrighted to Gwinnett Thursday.
Albies suffered a fractured toe when he was hit by a pitch from Houston’s Spencer Arrighetti last week. X-rays following the game revealed a fracture and a subsequent MRI confirmed that surgery wouldn’t be necessary. The original hope was that Albies would be ready to return in about two weeks. However, Albies progressed quickly and ramped up his baseball activities over the last several days. He ran the bases ahead of Wednesday’s game and reported no issues. Albies was off to a good start at the plate before the injury hitting .317/.386/.492 with two homers and a 146 wRC+ in 70 plate appearances.
