Robert Saleh on Jets Locker Room Following First Career Win: 'It's Awesome'

Jets Plan To Demote Nathaniel Hackett, Clearly Only Keeping Him Around To Baby Aaron Rodgers

A new report from The Athletic that was published earlier this week laid out all of the chaos surrounding the New York Jets this season, and one of the main factoids had to do with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

According to reports, the organization “lost confidence in [Hackett’s] ability to run the offense on his own”, and as a result, is looking for a way to demote him heading into the 2024 season.

The report mentions that head coach Robert Saleh “has explored adding to the offensive staff and creating a more collaborative play-calling process that would reduce Hackett’s role.”

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whom Hackett was brought in to appease, has reportedly been involved in those discussions.

Those sources described a team riddled with excuse-making, a paranoid head coach, an ill-equipped offensive coordinator and an organizational tunnel vision on the quarterback that rubbed some teammates wrong.

In an oft-repeated conflict at Florham Park, a star-studded defense that kept New York in games grew frustrated that the offense couldn’t find a way to put up more points. And offensive players felt like Rodgers’ hand-picked offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett, failed to adjust after losing his quarterback and didn’t put them in positions to succeed.
