New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh trolled by San Francisco 49ers’ Kyle Shanahan
New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh will be on the hot seat this coming season after posting a miserable 18-33 record in his first three years in that role.
Saleh has already been put on notice by Jets owner Woody Johnson following an ugly seven-win 2023 campaign. He’s now apparently catching strays from his former boss.
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan announced on Wednesday that the team has fired defensive coordinator Steve Wilks following their overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII.
In making that announcement, he took a major shot at Saleh. It’s not what we’d expect from Shanahan. At all.
That’s just an eye-opening quote from Shanahan there. Why did he feel the need to take a shot at Saleh? Sure, the 49ers’ head coach still has to be frustrated over Sunday’s loss. But throwing daggers in this manner is something else.

Robert Saleh is firmly on the hot seat with the New York Jets
Saleh, 45, served as the 49ers’ defensive coordinator under Shanahan from 2017-20. It led to him getting the Jets’ job as one of the top available defensive minds in the league.
Since then, it’s been downhill for Saleh. His Jets career opened with four wins back in 2021 before Saleh led them to seven wins in each of the past two seasons.
