North Dakota’s Grant Nelson leads Alabama to Elite Eight
LOS ANGELES (KFYR) – If you’re looking to prove yourself as an elite college basketball player, the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament might just be the best place to do that.
Devils Lake graduate and 2020 Mr. Basketball recipient Grant Nelson had a massive game for the Crimson Tide Thursday night, leading Alabama to an upset win over No. 1 seed North Carolina Tar Heels in the Sweet Sixteen.
Nelson led all scorers with 24 points, also adding 12 rebounds, 5 blocks and 1 assist. Grant says he’s been feeling a whole lot of from his home state after Thursday night’s impactful performance.
“I’ve been getting a lot of love this whole time from my home state and Devils Lake in general. It’s been great, a lot of love from those guys. Especially after the game last night. Everyone I knew from Devils Lake was either texting me or DMing me on Instagram or something like that. It’s great to have all that love and it gives me motivation to go out and give it my all every night,” said Nelson.
Nelson and the Crimson Tide will take on Clemson Saturday night in the Elite Eight. Tipoff is set for about 7:50 p.m. Central Time.
