The NFL schedule hasn’t been released yet, with that coming on Wednesday. But, we are getting little bits and pieces reported day by day, and we just got a huge nugget involving Tom Brady and the Dallas Cowboys.

On Monday, a video showing Michael Strahan informing Tom Brady that he would be calling the Dallas Cowboys in the late window of Week 1 dropped on social media. In the clip, he takes an accidental shot at Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

Here’s what Brady had to say about having the Cowboys as his first game as a broadcaster.

“Obviously having the Cowboys on is a huge draw, as America’s team. T hat’s gonna get a little hard for me to say that all the time. I understand. They were the competition for a long time but in this new role, I know the Cowboys, how important they are to this network. They’ve got great storylines. Come on, Dak Prescott, let’s see if he can finally come through.”

it was at that moment that Tom Brady realized what he had just said. In the middle of talking about Micah Parsons he said, “did that just slip out?”

Oh, it did, Tom. The entire NFL world is going to surely hear about your comments casting doubt on Dak Prescott. But, Brady is right. Dak Prescott has a reputation of not coming through in the clutch. In last year’s embarrassing playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers, Prescott threw two pick-sixes that put the game out of reach. While he hasn’t always melted down like that, he does have a reputation of not playing well when it counts, fair or unfair.

Meanwhile, Tom Brady’s reputation as a player is the complete opposite. Maybe that’s why he was so hard on Dak Prescott in that comment, even if he didn’t mean to say it out loud.

Brady better learn to play nice with Cowboys fans. As the analyst on the top FOX broadcast team alongside Kevin Burkhardt, he will call plenty of Cowboys games if he has a long career at FOX.
