Report: Striker has a release clause that only Spurs and the other Big Six clubs can trigger

TBR Football have revealed that a release clause in Dominic Solanke’s contract has now become active, potentially handing Tottenham a boost in their pursuit of the striker.

Solanke had an outstanding 2023-24 season, finishing the season with 19 Premier League goals, with only Alexander Isak, Cole Palmer and Erling Haaland scoring more than him in the top flight (Goal).

Tottenham are on the hunt for a new striker this summer

That is thought to have brought him to the attention of Tottenham, who are rumoured to be in the market for a top-class centre-forward.

Football Insider reported earlier this week that Ange Postecoglou’s men had expressed a ‘concrete interest’ in securing the Cherries star this summer as they aim to fill the void left by Harry Kane’s departure last summer.

Dominic Solanke’s release clause is now active

According to TBR Football, a £65m release clause in Solanke’s contract has now become active, with Bournemouth being helpless to stop the striker from leaving if that is met.

Interestingly, the report reveals that the clause is only applicable to six clubs – Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.

However, the outlet says that the South Coast club are not expecting Solnake to depart this summer as the centre-forward has informed them that he is happy to spend another season at the Vitality Stadium.

Solanke made 42 appearances for Bournemouth last season across all competitions, scoring 21 goals and providing four assists (transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

I cannot see Tottenham or any other club in the Premier League meeting Solanke’s £65m release clause.

The Lilywhites might perhaps test the waters with an offer of around £40m-£45m to see if Bournemouth are tempted to accept it and if the striker’s head gets turned.
