Luton Town profit from Watford gaffe with manager of the year contender Rob Edwards

Tottenham Expert slams Crystal Palace despite what happened in Premier League on Saturday

Tottenham should have more than enough to beat Crystal Palace despite the Eagles’ positive start to life under Oliver Glasner, according to John Wenham.

Glasner has taken over at Selhurst Park after Roy Hodgson stepped down from his post as first-team manager.

The Austrian got off to the best possible start in front of his new supporters as Palace beat Premier League strugglers Burnley 3-0 on Saturday 24 February.

Spurs and Ange Postecoglou will now get set to welcome Glasner’s new-look Palace side to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 2 March as they look to bounce back from a 2-1 home defeat to Wolves on Saturday 17 February.

Despite Palace’s most recent result, Wenham is still confident the hosts will get the job done.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I just don’t think they’ve got enough good players to replicate what they did against Burnley when they play us.

They looked really poor before Glasner’s arrival, and when Eberechi Eze doesn’t play, they don’t have much quality going forward.

“I know Adam Wharton has come in and looked good, but it is a lot to ask of a 20-year-old to change the whole dimension of a football club.

“They don’t have strikers that score goals. Jordan Ayew works very hard, but he doesn’t score enough. Odsonne Edouard is also not good enough.”

Tottenham will be tested against Crystal Palace

Spurs supporters will be feeling rather unlucky considering the timing of Glasner’s arrival.

The Eagles had won just once in seven in all competitions before Hodgson’s departure, and those inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would certainly much preferred to have played Hodgson’s Palace.

However, that is no longer the case and their London rivals will now make the trip north of the river full of confidence and belief.

Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou need to put things right against Crystal Palace

After such a poor result against Wolves, and two weeks to put things right on the training ground, it is up to Tottenham to stamp out that belief in the opening stages of the clash and get back to winning ways in the hunt for UEFA Champions League football.

In other Tottenham news, one 90 per cent Spurs loanee could yet save his career in North London after his “outstanding” recent form.
