Coventry City, Sheffield United, Leeds United, and Norwich City are now believed to be in the race for Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark.

Liverpool: Coventry City, Sheffield United in Bobby Clark race

According to The Athletic, Coventry and Sheffield United have now joined the race for the 19-year-old, who could follow in the footsteps of Tyler Morton and seal a loan move to the Championship.

England youth international Clark made 12 senior appearances for the Reds last term, with five of those coming in the Premier League.

He scored one goal and registered two assists in those 12 competitive appearances, with one goal and one assist coming in the Europa League.

But the player is now reaching an age where he needs to be playing regularly in his quest to develop – and there is no shortage of interest in him – having featured more regularly under Jurgen Klopp during the 2023/24 campaign.

With Arne Slot now at the helm though, Clark may not feature heavily in his plans for the upcoming season, and could potentially decide to loan the teenager out to the English second tier before reassessing the player next summer.

Interest mounting in Bobby Clark

There isn’t a shortage of sides who are interested in the player at this point.

Coventry are thought to be eyeing a loan move for him – and that may not come as a huge surprise to Sky Blues fans.

The likes of Josh Eccles and Jack Rudoni can operate in central midfield roles, but the former can play as a right-back and wing-back and the latter could potentially play in a more advanced role following the departure of Callum O’Hare.

O’Hare’s new club, the Blades, are also thought to be in the mix for Clark – and they could benefit heavily from using the loan market during the latter stages of the transfer window – with a takeover yet to be completed at Bramall Lane.

Leeds United and Norwich City, who both finished in the promotion mix last term but were unable to seal a top-flight return, are the other two sides that are known to be interested.

Leeds have a shortage of options in central midfield after the departures of Archie Gray and Glen Kamara, even with Joe Rothwell being brought in, so a move for Clark could pay dividends for the Whites.

Bobby Clark could have some decent loan options this month

Those are four attractive loan destinations for Clark – and it will be interesting to see where he goes.

Coventry are very much on the up under Mark Robins, even though they failed to secure a top-six finish at the end of last term.

The Coventry Building Society Arena remains an exciting place to be – and the Blades also have some decent players – even though they need to invest in some more players before the end of the window.

Norwich aren’t in the best situation at this stage, with Gabriel Sara leaving, but that could open up a starting spot for Clark to fill.

And Leeds are another team that will need to look at their central midfield area before the window closes.

At this stage of his career, Clark needs to prioritise game time over a potential second-tier promotion medal, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up if he seals a loan exit.
