Premier League: Oliver Glasner mit Crystal Palace im Höhenflug | Transfermarkt

How much Crystal Palace value Mateta as Napoli now target the Frenchman to complete the deal

Crystal Palace will be devastated as top European interest has now arrived for star striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

For Oliver Glasner, the project he’s creating at Crystal Palace must be incredibly exciting. He’s turned this team’s fortune onto its head and has the Eagles on fire.

Even with interest from Bayern Munich, which was quickly shut down by Steve Parish, he seems content to remain at Selhurst Park.

But he’ll have his fingers and toes crossed that his players also remain at Selhurst Park this summer.

We’ve all seen the links which have reported various star players could exit, well now it seems Jean-Philippe Mateta will join that list.

It’d be a huge blow for Palace to see Mateta among those leaving this summer, but it now looks like a real possibility as Serie A giants are eyeing him up.

It’s reported by the South London Press, that Mateta has drawn the interest of last season’s Scudetto winners as they bid to replace Victor Osimhen who looks likely to depart.

This Napoli interest joins recent interest from Real Betis and Eintracht Frankfurt, along with RB Leipzig who bid last summer.

If Palace are to let Mateta go, it’s thought that a modest fee of £25.7m would be enough to convince the club to part ways.

This however is a little on the cheap side considering Mateta is one of the Premier League’s most in-form strikers.

Crystal Palace cannot sell Mateta this cheap

Selling the club’s player of the season and striker who has netted 16 times this season for that cheap would be a ludicrous decision.

With 10 goals since Glasner arrived, Mateta is proving to be better than the current options Palace have been linked with upfront. This includes the likes of Eddie Nketiah who’d cost £40m and is half the player right now.

Mateta has become a cult hero very quickly since Glasner took over and he’s become a figurehead of this new era at Palace after only costing £9m.

Selling, for this cheap, doesn’t seem like a wise move. So if he is to be sold, Palace should really be demanding £30-35m for the 26-year-old Frenchman.

As reported by L’Equipe, Napoli have identified Crystal Palace’s Mateta as an interesting candidate to replace Osimhen in the summer and could make contact with the Premier League club in the near future to start exploring a summer deal.

The 26-year-old Frenchman, who was targeted by the Partenopei back in 2020 before they picked up Osimhen, has impressed for Crystal Palace this term, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists in 34 league matches, shining under new coach Oliver Glasner.
