Steven Schumacher fine with pressure just don't tell him Stoke are heading into power play - press conference notes - Peter Smith - Stoke-on-Trent Live

Stoke City have contacted Agent in a move for Linciln City midfielder whose deal wasfinalized this Morning, according to a reporter.

Stoke City are keen on luring the versatile midfielder to the Championship this summer as they prepare for another year in the second tier. They managed to secure their status at that level last season under former Plymouth Argyle boss Steven Schumacher.

Sarpong-Wiredu, 24, has been on the books at Highbury Stadium since 2022 and is one of their key players. However, they face a real battle to keep hold of him in the upcoming transfer window following their relegation to League Two.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, the Potters want to lure him to the Bet365 Stadium as they look to continue their early recruitment drive. They have already snapped up goalkeeper Viktor Johansson from Rotherham United and are in the market for some more new faces to bolster their ranks.

Stoke City could see Sarpong-Wiredu as someone to add more competition and depth to their squad. He would be a useful addition as he can also play at full-back if needed.

Fleetwood Town are under no pressure to cash in on him just yet, despite them dropping out of League One under ex-Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam. His contract with the North West outfit expires in 2026 meaning they can wait for the right offer to arrive for his services.

The Londoner has made 86 appearances for the Cod Army in all competitions to date and has chipped in with five goals, three of which came last term.

He started his career at Charlton Athletic and rose up through the academy ranks at The Valley.

Sarpong-Wiredu was a regular for the Addicks at various different youth levels before going on to play six times for their first-team, as well as having loan spells away at Bromley and Colchester United to get some experience under his belt.

The latter then snapped him up on a permanent basis and he was given the green light to head out the exit door.

He then played 75 matches during his stint in Essex before he made the transfer up north

Stoke City have reportedly identified Sarpong-Wiredu as a potential acquisition and he would be a shrewd signing for them if they got it over the line.

The Potters were too close to the drop zone for comfort in this past campaign and will be hoping for much better next time around.

Opinion: Five potential replacements for Pierre-Emile Højbjerg at Spurs - The Spurs Web - Tottenham Hotspur Football News

Tottenham are looking to bolster their midfield with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg set to leave the club and Burger’s reported £12m asking price is deemed good value for a player of his ability.

Sheffield United have also been touted with interest in Burger but their relegation from the Premier League means they’re a far less attractive proposition for the Dutch midfielder.

For Stoke, the reported fee Burger would command would prove invaluable to their rebuild if invested correctly, and it feels as though the short-term impact of losing Burger would be outweighed by the long-term gains.
