Robins will be pleased if his club are able to sign Binks once more

Robins seeks to secure signing of Luis Binks for strength in defense after McFadzean’s departure.

Sky Blues hope Callum O’Hare will extend his contract after stand-out performances in 2023/24.

Ben Sheaf’s contract extension seen as vital to fend off transfer interest and boost team for 2024/25 season.

Coventry City may not have achieved their primary aim for the 2023/24 Championship campaign, as they failed to reach the play-offs, but Sky Blues supporters still experienced a memorable campaign as their club made a historic run to the FA Cup semi-finals.

Mark Robins will be on cloud nine if these things happen at Coventry City

Under Mark Robins’ management, the Sky Blues are in safe hands, and after reaching the 2023 play-off final, the club will look to land a 2024/25 top-six spot.

Another busy summer is expected and here are the scenarios Robins will be hoping for in order to pursue next season’s play-offs.

Luis Binks signs

Luis Binks for Coventry City

The defender on loan from Bologna was in and out of the Sky Blues’ team during the 2023/24 season, making 18 appearances and 15 starts in the Championship, but at 22 years old he is still a developing player.

Following the departure of club stalwart Kyle McFadzean, who joined Blackburn Rovers in January, the Sky Blues should look to retain the services of Luis Binks.

The former England youth international’s parent club have secured Champions League football, which demonstrates the level they are operating at, so he may find first-team opportunities hard to come by.

Fellow centre-backs Riccardo Calfiori, Jhon Lucumi and Sam Beukema have all made over 25 Serie A appearances this season, so Binks may not be able to land a spot in Thiago Motta’s starting XI.

Robins will be pleased if his club can sign Binks once more, either permanently or on a renewed loan deal, as the Sky Blues require strength in depth at the back after McFadzean’s exit. He’s dropped hints about returning for the centre-back already.

Callum O’Hare extends contract

Callum O'Hare for Coventry City-2

After returning from a lengthy ACL injury, back in October, Callum O’Hare once again proved his worth in Coventry colours this campaign, scoring six goals and producing three assists in 31 league appearances and just 18 starts.

The Sky Blues faithful will have been particularly fond of the goal he scored against Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final, as well as the brace he bagged during a victory over rivals Leicester back in January.
