Sergio Reguilon wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur

Well, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Sergio Reguilon plans to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.

The Italian journalist has claimed that Reguilon wants to play regular first-team football. That is not going to happen at Spurs.

So, the £27 million left-back (The Independent) is keen on finding a new club in the January transfer window. He spent the first half of the season on loan at Manchester United.

Brentford are “really interested” in Reguilon and are pushing to get a deal done with Spurs, according to Romano.

Romano told GiveMeSport about Reguilon: “Yes, I think Reguilon will leave Tottenham in the January window. This is the plan. This is the intention on all sides.

“Reguilon wants to play, he wants to play on a regular basis. He needs to play probably to return to his best and so the plan is to leave.

“Brentford are really interested, so they are pushing to make this deal happen with Tottenham.”

My View: No long-term future at Tottenham for Reguilon

In my opinion, Sergio Reguilon does not have a long-term future at Tottenham Hotspur. I do not see the former Real Madrid left-back making a name for himself at the North London club in the long run.

Spurs sent Reguilon out on loan to Atletico Madrid for the 2022-23 season. The Spain international left-back spent the first half of the current campaign on loan at Manchester United.

It is clear that the Tottenham bosses do not think that Reguilon is good enough to play for the first team. The 27-year-old is under contract at the North London club until the summer of 2025.

I think that it would be best for Tottenham and Reguilon if he finds a club on a permanent basis, either in the January transfer window or in the summer of 2024.
