Manchester United are reportedly interested in completing a deal for Aston Villa midfielder Aston Villa ahead of the summer transfer window

Midfield is an area of the pitch United are keen to strengthen and this need will become more urgent if Casemiro and Christian Eriksen leave the club.

Casemiro continues to be strongly linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia while Eriksen is believed to be on the radar of teams like Galatasaray and Ajax.

Some of the midfielders United have been mentioned to be pursuing include Joao Gomes (Wolves), Joao Neves (Benfica), Amadou Onana (Everton), Youssouf Fofana (AS Monaco), Teun Koopmeiners (Atalanta) and Desire Doue (Rennes), just to mention a few names

According to Italian publication Calciomercato.it, United are also among a host of outfits both in England and abroad eyeing Villa’s Douglas Luiz.

The Brazilian has been a key member of Villa’s squad since he joined them from Manchester City in 2019. Last season especially, Luiz played a key role as his side qualified for the Champions League ahead of their rivals like United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Newcastle. The last time Villa were in the competition was 40 years ago.

Luiz contributed nine goals and five assists in 35 Premier League appearances. Roy Keane previously advised United to explore a move for the 26-year-old and it appears like the legendary captain may get his wish.

The Sun’s transfer specialist Alan Nixon today claims the Sky Blues are keen on the Terriers’ impressive attacking midfielder Jack Rudoni, saying Mark Robins sees the 22-year-old as the ‘ideal’ replacement for out of contract O’Hare, who is expected to leave the CBS Arena on a free transfer this summer.

O’Hare has been offered fresh terms but the club appear resigned to losing the services of the number ten, and are actively looking for an alternative.
