A key fixture in the Foxes under-21 side, Brunt made his Premier League debut in a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham in the 2021/22 campaign, coming off the bench for 23 minutes.

The talented Englishman then gained a real taste of senior football while out on loan at Mansfield Town last term. Brunt made 34 appearances for the Stags in total as they sealed promotion to League One, finishing just behind Wrexham in third.

Mansfield were keen to bring the youngster back following promotion to the third tier and it was revealed he was their ‘number one target’ however, Leicester rejected their permanent bid for the defender, which allowed Wrexham to swoop in.

Following the departures of a few experienced players, including Ben Tozer, Aaron Hayden and Jordan Tunnicliffe, Wrexham have signed a player who is at the other end of the spectrum.

Brunt, much like current Reds defender Max Cleworth, is at the beginning of his footballing development and as seen at Mansfield last term, he’s shown a lot of promise.

Parkinson has echoed that sentiment in his reaction to the youngster’s arrival, claiming he’ll be a “very good signing” with a “lot of development in him”.

Phil Parkinson hails Wrexham desire after securing first away win of season

Speaking to Wrexham’s official website, Parkinson said: “Lewis will be a very good signing for us and he’s a very good young player. “He did exceptionally well in his first full season at Mansfield and he will be a player that has a lot of development in him.

“I believe that he will be a great acquisition for us.”

Brunt may have to bide his time to dislodge their current trio of Cleworth, Eoghan O’Connell and Tom O’Connor however, he looks like a promising addition to Wrexham’s defence with plenty of room to grow.
