Alan Nixon quizzed on potential hold up with Sheffield Wednesday rumoured signing
Alan Nixon has provided some clarity over a key Sheffield Wednesday summer transfer target.
As things stand, Sheffield Wednesday have made the most signings of any team in the Championship, with five to their name already this summer.
And Danny Rohl looks set to add to that number in the very near future with the Owls tipped to complete a handful of deals.
Already signed are Ben Hamer, Max Lowe, Yan Valery, Svante Ingelsson, and Jamal Lowe, with Polish attacker Olaf Kobacki expected to join from Arka.
Elsewhere, free agent striker Charlie McNeill is also expected to sign for Sheffield Wednesday following his release at Manchester United.
There’s also hope that Sheffield Wednesday can re-sign James Beadle on loan from Brighton following his impressive loan spell in the second half of the 2023/24 season, where he kept eight clean sheets in 19 Championship outings.
Beadle was reportedly in Sheffield on Monday as the Owl pushed through a loan deal for the 19-year-old.
Alan Nixon provides James Beadle update at Sheffield Wednesday
It was thought that Beadle to Sheffield Wednesday could be announced as early as Monday, when he was in the city and the club were trying to finalise his loan return from Brighton.
No announcement has yet been made. Quizzed on whether Beadle to Sheffield Wednesday has been held up for any reason, Nixon said that he doesn’t ‘think there’s any concern’ over the deal.
Beadle started the 2023/24 season on loan at Oxford United but was brought to Hillsborough for the second half of the campaign, where he displaced Cameron Dawson in the starting XI.
Why James Beadle return to so crucial for Sheffield Wednesday
Finding a good goalkeeper is not always easy; especially so for the likes of Sheffield Wednesday with Rohl wanting a certain type of goalkeeper.
Beadle was arguably brought in because of his ball-playing ability. But in time, he proved himself to be a very worthy shot-stopper too.
So bringing Beadle back and keeping part of that important core that helped steer the Owls to safety last season will be crucial for Rohl.
And for Beadle, spending a whole season playing first-team football, and for a team and manager who got the best out of him, could be vital for his development as a young footballer.
If Beadle returns, it’ll be another very decent signing for Sheffield Wednesday who have wasted absolutely no time in getting themselves ready for the 2024/25 campaign.
We could see some new and exciting signings announced very soon at Sheffield Wednesday.
