Tony Bloom factor means Brighton will not "do a Southampton"

Ipswich Town set to land two Brighton stars amid Summer Transfer after the deal was formally finalized

All the latest transfer news and gossip for Brighton and Hove and across the Premier League
The uncertainty around Brighton’s managerial appointment has delayed Ipswich Town’s hopes of securing a double transfer swoop on the Seagulls.

Brighton are said to be in talks with their former boss Graham Potter as they seek a successor to Roberto De Zerbi. Potter remains the favourite with the bookmakers – with Steve Cooper, Southampton’s Russell Martin and Malmo’s Henrik Rydstrom also said to be in the running.

In the meantime, Ipswich are reportedly trying to seal a deal for Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, who impressed while on loan with Swansea in the Championship last season.

Sources: New Brighton deal agreed as England U21 starlet Carl Rushworth pens contract before Swansea move

Brighton are well stacked in the keeper department with Bart Verbruggen and Jason Steele the No1s last term, plus Tom McGill providing back-up. They also have a decision to make on James Beadle, who was excellent last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

Rushworth, 22, looks Premier League ready and his Swansea boss last term, Luke Williams, tipped him as a future England international. Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna, who reportedly turned down the chance to manage Brighton last week, is keen to bolster the Town squad ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Reporter Darren Witcoop posted: “Ipswich monitoring Brighton managerial situation as they target keeper Carl Rushworth. Waiting on green light over whether Rushworth will leave or stay this season.”

Another Albion player of interest to Ipswich is Jeremy Sarmiento. The Ecuador international attacker spent the second half of last season on loan with the Tractor Boys and played a key role in their promotion from the Championship. His form for McKenna’s team earned him a call up to Ecuador’s Copa America squad.

TBR sources confirm that Smith Rowe has been informed by Arsenal that the club will not stand in his way and the player himself is understood to feel that he needs to move on from the Emirates this summer.

The 23-year-old has seen his chances become increasingly limited and he started just three league games last term.

TBR can now reveal that Smith Rowe’s representatives are touching base with a host of Premier League clubs.

Brighton look into Emile Smith Rowe move

It is understood that Brentford, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Wolves are amongst the clubs who are looking into a potential deal.

Emile Smith Rowe remians part of Mikel Arteta's plans at Arsenal

Smith Rowe is contracted to Arsenal until 2026 and we understand The Gunners want more than £30million. Cashing in on Smith Rowe would be a huge positive for Arsenal in terms of Profit and Sustainability, given he is a homegrown player.

Indeed Arsenal are ready to see some substantial profits from homegrown sales with Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah also being offered for sale.

This summer could prove to be a defining one in the career of Smith Rowe given he has struggled for game-time over the last two years with Arsenal.

He was previously one of the real positives about Mikel Arteta’s side, scoring 10 league goals in the 2021/22 season. But he has only made three league starts in the two years since.
