Questioned on social media whether he would be a Blades fan now that O’Hare has joined the South Yorkshire club on a free transfer, Grennan wrote on X: “I’ll be at as many of the Cov games I can get to. Like I have been the last 8 seasons.”

He also revealed that he’s going to help the George Curtis and John Sillett statue fund hit its target by paying the remainder of the money needed to get it commissioned – some £10,000!

“I’ll also be paying the difference left to get the George and John statue built,” he added. “But silly, this. Got plenty of friends in football at various clubs, and I’ve also been very clear about my affection for the club and the community.”

The fund was £12,000 short of it’s £200,000 target at the start of this week but a flurry of donations, coupled with Tom’s contribution, has got it over the line.
