Kalen DeBoer Makes Social Media History As Alabama's Head Coach - The Spun: What's Trending In The Sports World Today

Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer on 5-star WR Ryan Williams: ‘One of the most dynamic guys I have ever seen’

“Getting the ball in his hands, he can do it on short throws and quicker type routes and he can do it down the field. He’s good in every way.”

Kalen DeBoer offered some insanely high praise for Ryan Williams, the 5-star receiver and Alabama signee, during a radio interview on Tuesday afternoon.

“He’s one of the most dynamic guys I have ever seen at receiver,” DeBoer said on Tide 100.9’s The Game. “Getting the ball in his hands, he can do it on short throws and quicker type routes and he can do it down the field. He’s good in every way.”

Williams, of course, is the blue-chip recruit from Saraland who committed to Alabama when Nick Saban was the coach, de-committed when Saban retired last month, then recommitted and ultimately signed not long after DeBoer was hired as Saban’s replacement.

The 6-foot-1, 165-pound receiver is considered the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2024 class, and No. 3 overall receiver — and that’s after he reclassified from 2025. He turned 17 earlier this month.

The high praise from DeBoer is notable, considering he coached three future NFL Draft picks at Washington in 2023, in Rome Odunze, Ja’Lynn Polk, and Jalen McMillan.

Odunze finished the year with 92 receptions for 1,640 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. His 109.3 receiving yards per game ranked No. 4 nationally. He is consistently projected to go in the top-10 of the 2024 NFL Draft, set for April 25-27 in Detroit.

Polk finished with 69 catches for 1,159 yards and 9 touchdowns while McMillan went for 49 catches for 559 yards and 5 touchdowns. Both are considered top-100 prospects in the upcoming draft and are projected to be taken in the second or third rounds.
