The experienced frontman linked up with the Red Dragons during the January transfer window of 2022. He has played his part in a National League title triumph, while forging a strong bond with big personalities on and off the field – including club co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
WHAT PALMER SAID
Palmer has told the Men In Blazers podcast of what makes Wrexham such a special place to work, with everybody pulling in the same direction: “I have met a lot of d*ckheads in football. To be fair, some people might say I was one of them! There are none in our dressing room. Everyone is together. I’m out injured at the moment but it doesn’t matter if you are injured, if you are out of the squad, out of form. There is such a togetherness. I have been in other dressing rooms where it gets a little bit acidic and people either don’t care or don’t want the team to win. It’s not like that here. Everyone wants the absolute best. Whether it is on the field or off the field, whether it is scoring a goal or someone doing something for a charity, people just help each other. I feel like that shows on the pitch.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Palmer has forged a productive alliance with prolific strike partner Mullin, with the pair spearheading a promotion charge last season, and he added on why that relationship works without any special effort: “We are a little bit chalk and cheese – I’m a Londoner and he’s a Scouser – but I think it adds to our relationship and we get on great. It has been great having that partnership with him for the last two years. I feel like it has worked well. People think we work on things together, we don’t. We just go out there and play. Obviously the manager does his team shape
and tactics, but me and Mulls just give each other a high five and go out there and do what we need to do. It works. It’s been great fun. I’ve loved partnering up with him. There are a lot of good strikers at the club – Sam Dalby is a fantastic young talent, we have got Steven Fletcher who has incredible pedigree. They are all great guys.”
