Seraina Piubel West Ham United is delighted to confirm the signing of Switzerland international Seraina Piubel from FC Zürich Frauen.

An exciting attacking midfielder with an eye for goal, Piubel has penned a three-year-contract with the Hammers, becoming Rehanne Skinner’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.

Piubel has played at FC Zürich Frauen since the age of 13, having previously played for FC Fislisbach in her early years. Since making her senior debut in 2017, Piubel has racked up over 65 first-team appearances for FCZ Frauen, including five in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. She also helped the Swiss side to four Women’s Super League titles and three Swiss Women’s Cup triumphs during that time.

The midfielder won the Swiss Women’s Super League Player award for her performances in 2023, having previously been nominated in both 2022 and 2021.

For Switzerland, Piubel has been capped 20 times, including at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup where she scored in a 2-0 group-stage victory over the Philippines.

A versatile, positive-thinking player who can play in a variety of positions across the midfield and forward line, Piubel is looking forward to her next chapter in east London.

“I’m delighted to be joining West Ham United,” the 24-year-old told West Ham TV. “It feels great to be here. West Ham United is a Club with an impressive history and I’m very proud to be a part of this team moving forwards.

“I would say that I have a good vision of the game and I am a dynamic player. The fans can expect to see commitment, passion and a player that gives everything to the team.

“West Ham clearly has big ambitions and it’s a dream for me to be a part of this project. I believe that I have the best opportunity to reach my full potential in a West Ham shirt and I am already looking forward to the challenge ahead.”

Manager Skinner expressed her excitement at seeing Piubel showcase her skills in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

“We are delighted to be welcoming Seraina to the Club,” said Skinner. “We have been watching Seraina’s progress for a little while now. She is a young, talented player who has stood out in the Swiss league for a few seasons and has already gained Champions League experience.

“As a tenacious midfielder also capable of playing across the forward line, Seraina is capable of creating and scoring goals and is a consistent threat to defenders.

“We feel she will adjust well to the Barclays Women’s Super League due to her work ethic and determination and her attacking capabilities will undoubtedly enhance our team moving forwards.”
