Hampus Karlsson has scored 14 points in 29 games this season in the Hockeyallsvenskan and has seriously established himself at the elite level. Now the forward also gets the chance in the SHL and Skellefteå.
Last season he played 52 SHL games with Oskarshamn and accounted for three goals. Now comes a new chance in the league when Skellefteå needs to strengthen the team before tonight’s match against HV71. Västerbottningar have several players away at JVM and also have problems with injuries.
Hampus Karlsson is on loan
The 23-year-old played in Hockeytwåan and Boro/Vetlanda during his first senior season. From there he was recruited to Kalmar and Hockeyettan and later on to Oskarshamn and SHL. When IKO then left the SHL, he chose to stay and this year has taken on a significantly larger role.
In the summit meeting against Björklöven on Friday, for example, he played over 17 minutes. In the last ten games, there have also been six points for the forward.
The loan is for now only valid for the upcoming match.
Viktor Grahn, from Södertälje, is also on loan from Skellefteå. The defender has already played one game for the club when he was loaned on December 19 when Skellefteå met Timrå. Alexander Hellnemo and Lukas Vesterlund also return from their respective loans to Nybro and Oskarshamn.
Joose Antonen is finally ready for Södertälje SK .
The Finnish forward is presented after the supporter collection reached over 400,000 kroner.
– With Carter gone probably the whole season, we have been looking intensively for a replacement, says sports manager Emil Georgsson.
“These are two of many names that we checked out. But maybe it’s not a super sharp situation”
Those were the words that sports director Emil Georgsson uttered in May after both Aleksi Mustonen and Joose Antonen were linked with the club by LT . Six months later, the 29-year-old forward is finally ready for a move – like the Allsvenskan club’s supporter recruitment.
– We had Joose on the radar already last spring but then nothing happened, so it feels good that we can land him now. We think he can fit well into our puzzle. The fans’ fundraising has made it possible for us to land this signing and we are grateful for that, Georgsson now says on the team’s website.
Replacing Carter Souch: “Goalscorer and striker”
Joose Antonen is coming off the latest of five points in 13 games at Germany’s Fischtown Pinguins, the club where he was released yesterday (Monday). Before that, he made three international appearances with Finland after a slightly later breakthrough in the Finnish Liiga. His best record there came in 2021/22 when he finished the season in KooKoo with 41 points in 60 games.
Now the forward will replace the injured Carter Souch.
– With Carter out probably the whole season, we have been looking intensively for a replacement and have now found it in Joose Antonen. We get an offensive right-handed forward with a good shot, he can act as both a goalscorer and forward. Has good experience from almost 400 matches in Liiga and national team games with Finland at various levels, says Georgsson.
