Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has revealed that Fábio Carvalho has picked up a minor groin injury, which is the reason why he missed the Bees’ New Year’s Day defeat to Arsenal.

The Portuguese midfielder is also a doubt for Saturday’s Premier League game at Southampton.

In more positive news, Mark Flekken, Sepp van den Berg and Mathias Jensen – who all returned to action against the Gunners, the latter from the bench – are fit and available for the weekend’s trip to St Mary’s Stadium.

“It’s a minor groin injury [for Carvalho],” confirmed Frank. “He’s unlikely to be involved for Southampton.

“Everyone that was available for Arsenal is available for Southampton.
