Hull City transfer update regarding Harry Vaughan shared by Ruben Selles

Hull City boss Ruben Selles has said it is ‘too early’ to decide whether to loan out Harry Vaughan this month.

Hull City have a decision to make on what to do with the winger for the second-half of the season with the January transfer window now open for business.

Vaughan, 20, came off the bench against Middlesbrough for the Tigers on New Year’s Day and that was his first appearance of the campaign to date.

In this latest update regarding his immediate future at the MKM Stadium, Selles has said on BBC Humberside Sport: “We will need to see. For me, it is too early. We need to see what is going to come. He is competing for a position like any other player in the team. It is good news to have that kind of player with us.”

He added: “The way he is working, I am more than pleased with him.”

Vaughan has been in Hull City’s squad for their last two games now which shows he has forced his way into Selles’ plans.

He may have the chance to start against Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup next weekend.

The youngster has dropped back into the development squad this term. He has impressed the Under-21’s boss Connor Sellars though and he recently told HullLive: “I think Harry’s playing really well at the minute. I feel like when he came back down (into the Under-21s from the first team), he rightfully so might feel a little bit disappointed, but maybe after the first three games, he’s really kicked on.

“It’s a little bit like Tyrell (Sellars-Fleming), where you’re putting a lot of praise on him and on the person himself. To come through setbacks is a part of football, and I think for Harry, it’s probably the best I’ve seen him for quite a while.”

Hull City gave Vaughan the green light to link up with Bristol Rovers over a temporary basis last winter to get some more experience under his belt.

He went on to make 11 appearances in all competitions for the Gas before heading back to his parent club for pre-season.

The former Oldham Athletic attacker is under contract at the MKM Stadium until the summer of 2026 meaning he could still have a bright future ahead of him in East Yorkshire.
