LIVE: Skellefteå AIK–Linköping

Skellefteå AIK, after many ups and downs, finally won Tuesday’s match with Modo in Örnsköldsvik.
Tonight the team faces Linköping, who AIK defeated in the SM quarterfinals last spring, in Skellefteå Kraft Arena.

Myrenberg robbed Skellefteå of the victory

“I had a strange feeling”

Skellefteå fired 43 shots.

Linköping’s Jesper Myrenberg didn’t concede a single goal.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper had packed both a robber’s hat and a crowbar and stole three points from Skellefteå.

There is no question that it was Myrenberg who was the single biggest reason why Linköping left Västerbotten with a victory in their bag.

The guests from Östergötland won the match 4–0 – despite Skellefteå having a shot advantage of 43–18.

He’s incredible right now. He’s making some really good saves and keeping us in the game, says teammate Remi Elie on TV4 Play after the halftime break.

There and then, Myrenberg had saved 26 shots while Linköping, led by two-goal scorer Remi Elie, had been effective to say the least with three goals on ten shots.

Saved everything

In the third period, Myrenberg continued to be a complete wall in the cage.

Skellefteå continued to pepper the goalkeeper with shots – but he continued to stand. Meanwhile, Linköping was able to find the right one again when Nick Shore made it 4–0 on the power play.

– I had a strange feeling that it was quite calm even though there were like 26 shots after half the match. I found some nice flow. It’s hard to describe but you want to end up there as often as possible, says Myrenberg in TV4 Play’s broadcast.

Linköping now has three wins in the last four matches and lifts from second place to safe ground, two points ahead of HV71.
