Borussia Dortmund set to rival Everton in race to sign the Europa League’s top scorer

Everton are expected to have a frantic end to the January transfer window.

Everton are yet to make any additions this month but they’re monitoring a number of targets, so movement is expected soon.

Everton have made contact to sign Marcus Edwards, who has been excluded from Sporting’s squad since Ruben Amorim’s departure.

David Moyes is also eyeing Kyle Walker-Peters having chased him for years whilst he was West Ham United manager.

Moyes is under no illusion he needs signings and it seems deals are starting to accelerate with deadline day 11 days away.

With that said, they’re now in a transfer battle with Borussia Dortmund to sign a prolific winger on the continent.

Borussia Dortmund to rival Everton for Yunus Akgun

Everton submitted a loan bid to sign Yunus Akgun earlier this month after his sensational start to the season with Galatasaray.

The Toffees wanted a buy option inserted into his contract, but the Turkish giants were reluctant to sanction his departure at the time.

However, now, Borussia Dortmund are in talks to sign Akgun and hope to agree a deal quickly, according to L’Equipe.

It’s not yet known if Everton have withdrawn their bid, but either way, if Akgun is now available, perhaps they could return with a second offer for the Europa League’s top scorer.

Everton should be wary of Akgun’s Leicester spell

Everton should approach the Akgun transfer with caution.

The Turkey international was on loan at Leicester City last season but really struggled to make an impact in the Championship.

In fact, the Foxes were so unconvinced that they decided to snub his £10m option to buy, so clearly Everton should be wary that perhaps he isn’t suited to English football.

The left-footed winger has a diminutive frame and struggled with the pace and intensity of last term, so he may find it hard to adapt to the Premier League.

Brighton steal a march on Everton with bid for Ligue 1 star

Everton will have to react quickly if they want to secure their transfer targets this January.

There is an expectation that Everton will make two signings in January as David Moyes will lay out his plans for the rest of the season.

Moyes and The Friedkin Group seem to be on the same page in terms of bringing in a couple of players and then look to properly invest in the summer.

It’s looking bright for the Toffees if they stay in the Premier League, with The Friedkins hoping for big changes at Everton.

However, Brighton are looking to snatch away Everton’s pursuit of this Ligue 1 player, as changes might need to be made now.

Brighton submit offer for Everton transfer target Habib Diarra

In a window that looks like it’s going down to the wire, Everton must act quickly to try and bring a few new faces into the club this winter.

One new face the Toffees have shown an interest in is Strasbourg midfielder Habib Diarra, who’s been a transfer subject for Everton since the start of the window.

The Friedkin’s want to sign Diarra for Everton but if they are that desperate, the owners may have to turn their actions into fruition, as according to L’Equipe Premier League rivals Brighton have submitted a £19m bid for Diarra.
