‘At risk of mockery’ – David Moyes may have just ruined club’s transfer plans, Everton decision key
Everton beat Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday and have some breathing space in the Premier League, with David Moyes taking the Toffees seven points away from the relegation zone.
Beto played 77 minutes of the match against the Seagulls, and that could therefore be the end of Torino’s ongoing efforts to sign him during the current window.
The Italian slant had been that after Sean Dyche not relying on the 26-year-old and then Moyes not giving him prominence immediately, Beto was very keen to return to Serie A and sign for Torino.
Sunday’s edition of Turin newspaper Tuttosport has a big article on the situation.
They go with a headline reading: ‘Toro-Beto at risk of mockery’
They explain David Moyes’ decision to start the player, even if that was motivated by injuries to others, means he’s ‘protected’ by Everton for now.
Torino have planned to sign Beto for three months, according to the report, and those 77 minutes may have just ruined everything for them. That’s largely because they’d been banking on Beto to kick and scream for the move, and force Everton to bring their asking price down.\
Everton want €20m, Torino won’t go beyond €14m.
The Serie A club are beginning to look at other targets.
Lazio have ‘emerged victorious’ from negotiations with Chelsea and are now set to sign Cesare Casadei from the Blues.
They report that Lazio are set to bring Casadei back to Italy before the end of the transfer window, with the player out of Chelsea’s plans under Enzo Maresca.
The last effort from Lazio proved to be the decisive one and Chelsea’s resistance has now fallen away.
