Ryan Day threw subtle shade at Tennessee fans during Ohio State's parade

Ryan Day threw subtle shade at Tennessee fans during Ohio State’s parade

Day saw all the ‘Neyland North’ talk going around.

It’s hard to forget that the magical Ohio State College Football Playoff run started with a home showdown at The Shoe against the Tennessee football team. For that contest, Tennessee fans did their best to take over the stadium, with ‘Neyland North’ being mentioned all over social media.

Unfortunately, though, Josh Heupel and the Vols couldn’t deliver for the fanbase, suffering a lopsided loss to the Buckeyes and Ryan Day in the opening round of the CFP. After that, Ohio State went on to beat Oregon and Texas before taking down Notre Dame in the National Championship Game.

On Sunday, the Buckeyes held their parade to celebrate the natty. As you might have been able to guess, Day and his players were on top of the world, but the Ohio State head coach also decided to throw a little bit of shade at UT supporters as well:

Ryan Day ‘showed the world this is our stadium’ vs. Tennessee

We hate to admit it, but Ohio State dominated play against the Vols, with Tennessee struggling on both sides of the ball. Immediately after that loss, haters were coming out left and right to bash Josh Heupel and his team. However, we then saw just how tremendous Ohio State was the rest of the way

Day respectfully tossed some shade here at Tennessee fans, but hey, even they can applaud what the Buckeyes were able to get done in the CFP, with Will Howard, Jeremiah Smith, Jack Sawyer and others looking fantastic over the past month or so.

For Tennessee, the program still finished with a 10-win season and a trip to the CFP for the first time in team history. The loss to Ohio State was a disappointment, but it doesn’t take away from what was a memorable campaign in 2024. Here’s to hoping an even better year will be on the way in 2025 – maybe even a rematch with the Buckeyes next December could be in the cards too?
