Recent Oregon State football assistant coaching hires Ray Pickering and Will Heck received two-year contracts worth $250,000 per season.
Pickering, who coaches running backs, and Heck, who oversees tight ends, were hired to fill vacancies when Thomas Ford and Jon Boyer left the school for other jobs.
Pickering, who previously coached running backs at Buffalo, nearly tripled his 2024 salary of $87,200. Heck was an offensive analyst at Oregon State last season.
Pickering and Heck are signed through the end of the 2026 football season. Their contract comes with additional compensation standard to OSU assistant coaching contracts: a $10,000 bonus if the Beavers earn a bowl berth, a car, tickets to Beaver athletic events and membership to Corvallis Country Club.
regon State has an assistant coaches salary pool of $4.85 million for the 2025 season, according to athletic director Scott Barnes. It matches what was available for the 2024 season, even though OSU spent $4.42 million in salaries last year.
