In a nice little surprise, the Tennessee Vols football team now has two 5-star playmakers for its 2025 class. Already, Josh Heupel had playmaker David Sanders Jr. on board, and he is ready to push for significant playing time as a true freshman this fall.
Now, though, there’s another elite prospect on the list in terms of 5-star guys. That’s because thanks to the new On3 rankings, defensive lineman Isaiah Campbell received a bump to his fifth star. Not only that, but he’s now the No. 30 player in the country. Boom:
Tennessee DL signee Isaiah Campbell is now a 5-star prospect per On3
Campbell was once committed to Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers, but he backed off his pledge and then was focusing on the Vols and North Carolina. With him being an NC product, plenty of people in his home state figured the Tar Heels would land his signature.
However, Campbell surprised plenty of people when he revealed that he was rocking with Tennessee, which was obviously a huge get for Heupel and his staff. Campbell picked up 36 offers throughout his recruitment, picking the Vols over UNC, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and many others.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Campbell, a 6-4, 280-pounder is the No. 6 defensive lineman in the country for his class and No. 2 player from North Carolina. He’s got a bright future ahead of him and the great news for the Vols is that he’s going to be arriving in Knoxville with a chip on his shoulder.
For a prospect, landing the coveted fifth star is something they often dream about. Following an impressive senior season, Campbell was able to showcase to everyone why he was such a popular target for teams across the country. Vols fans can’t wait to see what he’ll get done in ’25 and beyond.
