Just when it appeared that the Micah Hudson saga at Texas Tech was over, new life is being breathed into the relationship between the sophomore wide receiver and his former school. In fact, rumors about a possible reunion between the former 5-star high school wide receiver and the Red Raiders are running rampant online.
The Temple, Texas native signed with Tech in the class of 2024 making him the highest-ranked player to ever sign with the Red Raiders. He was the No. 25 overall player and No. 5 wide receiver in his class and he arrived with massive expectations.
However, he didn’t live up to the immense hype as a true freshman. After missing most of the offseason as he recovered from knee surgery, Hudson was not ready to play a key role for the Red Raiders in 2024.
Serving as a backup to 1,000-yard receiver Josh Kelly, Hudson caught only eight passes for 123 yards in eight games played in his first season in Lubbock. However, throughout the season, especially after games in which the Tech offense struggled, fans around Raiderland clambered for more playing time for him.
After the conclusion of the regular season, Hudson left West Texas via the transfer portal. What was worse for Tech fans was that he landed at Texas A&M. However, it appears that his time in College Station might be short-lived.
Late last week, it was reported that Hudson had stepped away from the A&M football program for personal reasons. At the time, it was not announced whether or not he would return to the Aggies.
Now, there is a ton of smoke online about a possible return to Texas Tech. In fact, on Wednesday’s edition of the Locked on Texas Tech podcast, Texas Tech football sideline reporter Chris Level said he “wouldn’t rule out” a reunion between the Red Raiders and Hudson. On that podcast, Level even hinted that Hudson had recently been back in Lubbock but he declined to speculate as to why.
What’s more, tons of people with Texas Tech ties have taken to X to share rumors that Hudson and Texas Tech might be mending fences.
