Eddie Howe shares the chances of Sean Longstaff leaving Newcastle United for Everton in PSR message
Everton are leaving it extremely late in the transfer window to make their first signing.
David Moyes will be left sweating back at Finch Farm as he awaits the first piece of business in this winter market.
There is now just under four days for Everton to make some moves with their squad in serious need of some further options.
The Friedkins were expected to sign two players this month with issues at the club prior to the recent injury crisis.
Moyes has done a fine job at Goodison Park since returning with two wins from three, but Everton are cutting it really fine when it comes to injuries.
With Orel Mangala sidelined for the season, the Toffees could really do with some midfield reinforcement.

Eddie Howe hints towards Sean Longstaff to Everton chances
With a midfielder on the radar for Kevin Thelwell, Everton are showing interest in Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United.
The 27-year-old midfielder has one more year remaining on his deal at Newcastle and is struggling for game time.
Speaking in his press conference on Friday morning, Eddie Howe admitted he is not expecting anything else to happen in the transfer window.
“Miggy [Almiron] going leaves us a bit short in that area, but it was a deal we needed to do because of PSR,” he said.
“As it stands, I expect the squad will remain the same. We knew this window would be one we wouldn’t recruit in. We’re not actively looking to bring players in”
Longstaff could be open to joining Everton, but it seems as if Newcastle have done what they need to do to balance the books.
Although the Englishman is struggling for minutes, expecting him to push for a move away from his boyhood club who are flying in the league feels a long shot.

Everton must move on to other midfield targets
Ahead of the game on the weekend against Leicester City, Moyes has been handed some boosts when it comes to injuries.
Tim Iroegbunam and James Garner are both available for Moyes to use in the absence of Mangala due to his season-ending knee injury.
The worry for Everton is either of them return and picks up another injury like Armando Broja did earlier in the month.
Everton need a new midfielder before the window shuts and Thelwell must quickly turn his attention elsewhere.
Everton now going all out for Carney Chukwuemeka after abandoning plans for African midfielder
David Moyes will need a midfielder following the injury to Orel Mangala as options have been weighed up.
A signing of a new midfielder is no doubt still of interest to Moyes especially after Mangala’s setback.
The Belgian will be out for the rest of the season as Mangala received heartfelt messages from Everton stars.
This will now bring Moyes to pursue this position, as The Friedkin Group have been eyeing a midfielder for some time now.
Now, Everton have made their stance clear on who they want to sign in replacement for Mangala.
Everton abandon plans and now want Carney Chukwuemeka instead
The player mainly on the Toffees’ radar is Carney Chukwuemeka who is of interest to Everton.
Chukwuemeka had been priced at £40m which will no doubt be out of Moyes’ budget if Everton are to sign more than one player this January.
Whether a deal can come to fruition between Chelsea or not is another matter, but it seems as though they’ve dropped a complete interest in a target.
