Everton and Tottenham informed whether they will be able to sign England international before deadline

Everton have placed a big emphasis on adding to their midfield in this transfer window.

The Toffees are now sitting on their first signing with an announcement believed to be imminent out of Goodison Park.

Everton have signed Carlos Alcaraz who inked his contract on Merseyside on Monday morning.

However, more midfield additions could be on the radar at Everton following the season-ending injury to Belgian Orel Mangala.

Everton are still keen on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall whose Chelsea future remains uncertain ahead of the 11 pm deadline.

But there is one player who Everton have been informed will not be making his way to Goodison.

Everton and Tottenham target Angel Gomes to remain at Lille

With midfielders on the radar, Everton and Tottenham have eyed Angel Gomes ahead of the transfer deadline.

The England international is now in the final months of his deal at Lille.

However, according to The Telegraph, Gomes now looks set to remain in France and see out the remainder of his contract

He is expected to move on in the summer when he becomes a free agent, instead of signing a new deal.

The midfielder is said to be keen to take his time in considering his next move despite the late interest coming his way.

Tottenham informed they can sign £134k-per-week ex-Man City ace in January

After taking over in December, the Friedkins were keen to sign a new midfielder and they have already accomplished that.

Everton could land Angel Gomes on a free in the summer

PSR remains a major issue for Everton with the Friedkins hindered in their attempts to spend during this transfer window.

Whether the summer window will provide some relief for Everton in terms of PSR remains to be seen.

But landing Gomes on a free in the summer would be a hugely positive bit of business for the Toffees both on and off the pitch.

One thing which is certain is that Gomes will receive a lot of interest ahead of becoming a free agent in the coming months.

That’s left Everton’s forward ranks thread-bare, so it’s understood the club are exploring a number of deals.

It had been claimed that Everton agreed a £10m deal to sign Tom Fellows from West Bromwich Albion, but those reports are believed to be wide of the mark.

However, Everton News understand Tommy Watson is of interest after his promising breakthrough season with Sunderland.
