Texas RB coach Tashard Choice receives big raise
Texas has retained all assistant coaches early this offseason for 2025.
Per a report from Clarence Hill of AllDlls.com, Texas football running backs coach Tashard Choice will be getting a big contract raise to north of $800K. This is a raise of over $100K, as he was making $700K annually before this news was reported on Feb. 3.
Tashard Choice receives a sizable raise from Texas football after interviewing with the Dallas Cowboys
The news of Choice’s raise comes after he interviewed for a job on staff under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer with the Dallas Cowboys. Hill of AllDlls.com was also the first to report the news that Choice had interviewed for a job on staff with the Cowboys.
It was also reported on Monday that Choice had interest from the New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders in the NFL.
Choice posted on X late last weekend, reaffirming what seemed like his intentions to stay with the Longhorns coaching staff.
Inside Texas reports that the contract is headed for the University of Texas Board of Regents meeting in Austin for approval on Feb. 19 and 20.
Texas retained its entire staff of on-field assistant coaches this offseason. It’s also noteworthy that the Longhorns didn’t fire any coaches after the 2024 season. That likely means that multiple Texas assistants are up for raises during the board of regents meeting in a few weeks.
Choice just finished up his third season as Texas’s running backs coach during the 2024 campaign. He was hired to Texas’s staff early in the 2021-22 offseason, and ahead of the 2022 season. Before taking the job as the Texas running backs coach in December 2021, Choice was the running backs coach with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from 2019-2021.
In his three seasons at Texas, Choice has coached up NFL running backs, including Bijan Robinson, Roschon Johnson, Jonathon Brooks, and potentially Jaydon Blue for the 2025 draft this spring in a few months.

Irish VS Longhorns in the 2026 National Championship Game?
Okay
The college football offseason is already catching fire here in the first week of February. Besides transfer portal news, coaching staff changes, and NFL Draft stuff; the early polls, All-American teams, and playoff projections are already being rolled out onto the table by the content machines.
Enter Andy Staples and his College Football Playoff projections. It’s possibly one of the most respectful and deferential predictions for a Notre Dame football season from an objectionable source that I’ve seen in a long time — and it actually has me scratching my head. The Irish haven’t even named its starting quarterback, and Staples has them going all the way to the National Championship game for the second consecutive year… but also losing for the second consecutive year. This time, the loss is to the Texas Longhorns.
