Everton v Liverpool: Michael Owen reacts as controversy footage emerges
Everton and Liverpool played out an entertaining 2-2 draw and tensions boiled over after the game on Wednesday night.
Tensions boiled between Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure after the full-time whistle and this saw players and staff of both sides getting involved.
Arne Slot also said a few words to Michael Oliver and he ended up getting sent off himself with footage emerging of the chaos post game.
Michael Owen and Martin Keown react to the footage post Everton v Liverpool
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Keown said on 12 February at 9:39pm: “Curtis Jones overracts for me. It’s out of order.”
To which Michael Owen responded: “Doucoure, you can’t do that. That’s dangerous. You can’t condone Curtis Jones either.”
Michael Oliver had plenty to do not just in the game but after the game too as there was plenty of drama everywhere.
After the full-time whistle, Oliver brandished red cards to four different people in a shocking turn of affairs.
As many expected, Doucoure and Jones were the two to get sent off but Arne Slot also was shown a red card for something he said to the referee.
Along with the Dutchman, his assistant Sipke Hulshoff was also given a red as stewards had to separate the two sets of teams.
David Moyes shows he’s the right man for the job
The Toffees will undoubtedly take immense spirit from this result against Liverpool, using it as a stepping stone to build momentum for the rest of the season.
The draw, especially with the dramatic late equaliser, showcases the resilience and fighting spirit within Moyes’ squad.
This not only demonstrates that the Blues can go toe to toe with the best in the league but also reinforces Moyes’ tactical acumen in rallying his team under pressure.
The performance against their fierce rivals will serve as a morale booster, proving to both the players and fans that they have what it takes to compete at the highest level.
Moyes is clearly instilling a belief in his team, pushing them to match, if not surpass, the expectations set by their performances.
This result could be the catalyst the Toffees need to push forward in their campaign, aiming for consistency and higher achievements.
Doucoure ‘stupid’ as ex-PGMOL chief reacts to shock Everton v Liverpool drama
Abdoulaye Doucoure was sent off after sparking a melee at the end of Everton’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Wednesday night.
James Tarkowski’s 98th-minute equaliser rounded off an incredible final Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park.
Beto put Everton ahead early on versus Liverpool before Alexis MacAllister equalised not long after and Mohamed Salah put the Reds on course for victory in the second half.
However, after a lengthy VAR check deep into stoppage time, Tarkowski’s goal was allowed to stand – and that sent Goodison into an absolute frenzy.
After the final whistle blew, 32-year-old Everton ace Doucoure went over to the Liverpool fans to celebrate in front of them, leading to an angry reaction by Curtis Jones, who also got sent off.
