Justin Jefferson agrees to record-setting $140M contract extension with the Minnesota Vikings

Aikman Reveals Frank Truth About Cowboys’ Schottenheimer Hire

FRISCO – The Dallas Cowboys shocked the league when they selected Brian Schottenheimer as their next head coach following Mike McCarthy’s departure.

While McCarthy’s replacement was expected to be of some sort of Cowboys’ descent, the shift to someone one else on his staff proved a stunning development.

Compounded with Schottenheimer’s lack of experience as a head coach, there is some trepidation around the fan base about how he will fit in his new post.

The staff he assembled around him has eased some of those concerns. Despite his inexperience with this position, former Cowboy and Pro Football Hall of Famer has confidence in Schottenheimer succeeding.

Schottenheimer’s promotion also came amid a number of big-name hires in this coaching cycle. Those circumstances add some pressure to both the Cowboys and their head coach.

But as Aikman also pointed out, the impressions on paper will not matter once the season kicks off. “When the season rolls around Week 1 – whether it’s Ben Johnson, Kellen Moore or Brian Schottenheimer – everybody’s being judged on a level playing field, and it’s all about winning.”

Unfortunately for Schottenheimer, the comparisons to Johnson and especially Moore will be apparent in year one. But winning would be the immediate cure-all as he navigates this new position.

Between the holes existing on the current roster and those that will open when players inevitably leave during free agency, there are moves that must be made for Dallas to reclaim positioning within their own division and the NFC at large. But with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons still at the core of this roster, there will be an expectation for at least some positive results off the bat.

Cowboys considering change to free agency; Micah Parsons hoping to see ‘aggressive’ adding of talent

FRISCO, Texas — You can put your finger in your ear and spin it around to make sure you’re hearing this correctly but, make no mistake about it, it certainly sounds as if the Dallas Cowboys’ front office is willing to begin taking cues from some of their most successful rivals in the realm of approaching free agency in 2025; and that would be music to Micah Parsons.

Having already made it known his looming contract extension will be absent any sort of demand or edict that he be awarded every possible red cent, for the sake of allowing cap space to be more active in free agency this year and beyond, the record-setting pass rusher doubled down on that stance recently.

Speaking after a morning of creating smiles and making dreams come true for Make-A-Wish kids at the Great Wolf Lounge in Grapevine on Valentine’s Day eve, Parsons was asked what the Eagles’ latest championship win felt like as a player for their biggest enemy.

“Yeah, that makes me hurt, man,” the four-time Pro Bowler told DallasCowboys.com. “This is a [Cowboys] team that, over the past couple years, we kind of got our wins and losses against them, and battled with them. Obviously, talent is here, but we’ve just got to finish; and go be aggressive the same way they did, you know?
