Why Ohio State basketball fans shouldn’t give up on them yet
The Ohio State basketball team is on the outside looking in when it comes to the NCAA Tournament. After losing three straight games and four of their last five, the Buckeyes are no longer in the field. Most bracketologists have them either on the bubble or outside the field.
Surprisingly, ESPN is not one of them. Right now, Joe Lunardi has the Ohio State Buckeyes as the last team with a bye. It’s quite concerning that they haven’t been able to stack wins against a pretty weak schedule. The loss against Northwestern remains inexplicable.
Yet, there’s hope for Buckeye fans. There is a reason why Ohio State basketball fans shouldn’t give up on them yet. There is still hope for them to make the NCAA Tournament. That hope rests on one player who continues to give everything he has for this team to win games.
Why Ohio State basketball fans should still believe in this team
Ohio State still has Bruce Thornton on their side. He is the one player who has played consistently well all year long. He is the guy who can create his own shot and make them while others are struggling. As long as he continues to play hard, this team still has a chance to make the Big Dance.
Thornton still needs help. He leads the team in points, assists, steals, and three-point percentage. He needs someone else to help him carry the load. He can’t do it himself. If they find someone else, the Buckeyes have a real good shot to make the Tournament.
Ohio State has three more games left in the regular season. They need to win all of those games in order to ensure that they are at least on the bubble when the season ends. Winning a couple of games in the Big Ten Tournament would help them, too.
The Buckeyes are worth not giving up on yet. This is a team that can still make the Tournament. They were talented enough to beat Kentucky, Purdue, and Maryland. They are talented enough to beat anyone. They just need to get that chance.
