Everton fans have already found the ‘top’ director of football they want to replace Kevin Thelwell
Big changes are set to unfold at Everton over the coming months with plenty of contracts set to expire.
The Friedkins have already put their stamp on Everton with the decision to change manager back in January.
David Moyes has made a mockery of Sean Dyche’s Everton tenure with the impressive start he has made back at Goodison Park.
The bigger picture is that the 61-year-old’s appointment has shown the American owners change can bring a positive effect.
Everton News understood Kevin Thelwell’s future was being considered by Everton ahead of the summer.
And it seems there has now been a decision made on his future with the 51-year-old one of those at the club set to see his contract expire.
Everton fans want David Weir to replace Kevin Thelwell
According to Paul Joyce, Everton are set to part ways with Thelwell at the end of the season.
The director of football has been working on Merseyside for a number of years now, but he is next to fall victim to the changes being brought by the Friedkins.
David Weir is one target for Everton, and it seems the fans would love to see the former Blue make a return to Goodison Park.
Taking to social media, @jbrookes7 said: ‘Welcome back David Weir’. Whilst @siewakes20 also hopes of a Weir return: ‘Its written in the stars that David Weir comes in.’
They were not alone as @johnfergie456 also expects the Brighton chief to make a return: ‘David Weir incoming….’ And @daynogs thinks a Weir-Moyes reunion would be a great partnership: ‘I’d love David Weir to come in. Done well at Brighton and would work well with Moyes’.
They were not alone as @philipballcc1 also thinks they would make a good pairing: ‘Moyes is no mug, He wants people around him, that he can trust 100% and get the Best players for EFC Davy weir is a top man’. With @terry__smith also adding: ‘Davey Weir’s still in a job, but he’ll have been fully briefed.’
David Weir’s stance on joining Everton
Although fans may want to see the Brighton & Hove Albion man return, that view may not be shared by the 54-year-old.
Everton News understands Weir is keen to remain at Brighton despite Everton’s interest.
The former Everton defender is enjoying his time down on the South Coast with the Seagulls one of the most highly regarded Premier League clubs for their recruitment.
The Friedkins may well have shown they are pulling Everton back in the right direction, but fans may be set up for disappointment when it comes to a potential return for Weir.
