The Aaron Rodgers era in New York is now fully in the past after the organization declared earlier this month that Rodgers will not be back in 2025. And in the eyes of ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller, the organization could be looking at a college quarterback with some impressive experience when it matters most.

Ohio State quarterback Will Howard showed what he was capable of in the College Football Playoff this past season, averaging 287.5 passing yards over the team’s four postseason games.

In the CFP, Howard showed impressive poise and took care of the football in a way that has had his NFL Draft stock begin to skyrocket in a way that most didn’t expect.

While Howard likely won’t hear his name called on the first day of the NFL Draft in April, he very well could end up being a Day 2 or Day 3 option for teams who would like someone who has big-game experience and a sound decision maker.

During an appearance on The Score 1260’s The Manchild Show, Matt Miller outlined how Howard could be the perfect player to plug into the Jets system, which of course has a plethora of young receiving options like Garrett Wilson at their disposal to help out a young quarterback.

“I’ll make the case for Will Howard,” said Miller. “He is actually ready to start day one. I think the athletic ability, the leadership. He doesn’t have the biggest arm but when you have weapons like Garrett Wilson, he needs to make a throw with touch, timing, and anticipation. Will Howard does that and he gives you mobility out of the backfield. You can run an RPO scheme. He can make things happen as a designated runner but he also can create. He is just steady as they come. Is he going to be Joe Burrow, Josh Allen… No, but he can be a really solid starting quarterback in the NFL.”
