3 Potential Trade Targets for Nuggets This Offseason

The Denver Nuggets have had a great season thus far and they look as though they are once again going to be a championship threat. After a slow start to the season, the Nuggets have completely turned things around. They have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA over the past few months and currently sit third in the Western Conference standings with a 38-21 record. While the Nuggets still have a ton of their season left to go, it is never too early to look at potential moves they could make in the offseason. Denver has most of their roster already signed for next season, and they are not expected to make major changes to their team, unless they have an early playoff exit. Despite this, the Nuggets could still look to improve their roster in the offseason via trade and Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley recently gave three potential trade targets for Denver in the offseason. “If Denver seeks out subtle upgrades, backup center feels like the right place to start,” Buckley wrote about what Denver needs to improve on in the offseason. “DeAndre Jordan is 36 years old and on an expiring deal, Zeke Nnaji has spent most of his first five seasons on the fringes of the rotation and 2024 first-round pick DaRon Holmes had his would-be rookie campaign wiped out by a torn Achilles.”

Buckley makes a good point with the Nuggets desperately needing to upgrade their frontcourt depth, and he gave some players that he believes that they could target. The three players Buckley mentioned are Andre Drummond, Duop Reath and Luka Garza.

Drummond would be a great option for the Nuggets to improve their backup center spot. The 31-year-old has played well this season for the Philadelphia 76ers and would give the Nuggets a dominant rebounder and inside scorer behind Jokic. Reath would also be a solid choice for Denver. The 28-year-old has not played much this season thanks to the Portland Trail Blazers’ plethora of big men, but he would receive much more playing time with the Nuggets and would provide them with a big center that is a solid scorer and rebounder. The Nuggets could also target Garza

from the Minnesota Timberwolves. Garza had an incredible college career and he has played well in his minimal minutes in Minnesota. He would give the Nuggets a solid scoring and rebounding big man off the bench.

Of course, the Nuggets could also look elsewhere to upgrade their roster in the offseason, but the three trade targets Buckley named would all benefit Denver next season.
