Brighton man delighted with transfer choice – Rubbishes transfer claim, one big issue at loan club
Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Julio Enciso has insisted he didn’t have the option to join Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window and wanted to remain in the Premier League.
Versus have an interview with the midfielder today in which he discusses various topics, including his move to Ipswich last month.
The Brighton man has joined the Premier League strugglers on loan until the end of the season to bolster Kieran McKenna’s side as they look to avoid relegation.
He made the move from Brighton after finding himself down the pecking order at the club this season, preferring to head out on loan and get regular playing time elsewhere.
Reports at the end of the window in January also suggester that Borussia Dortmund had also shown late interest in him. That came alongside a reported offer from Manchester United as well.
Enciso ended up at Ipswich instead and insists there was no offer from Dortmund, despite any reports stating otherwise.
“No, no,” he replied when specifically asked about interest from the Bundesliga side.
“It’s always been my dream to play in the Premier League and I’m also grateful to my family, to Pedro, my agent and everyone around me because we were able to make that decision, which wasn’t easy, but I’m also very happy to be able to continue here in the best team.”
Enciso has yet to fully establish himself at Ipswich so far, with 117 minutes across three appearances to date against Liverpool, Southampton and Aston Villa.
He’s missed the last two games with a knee injury, although there is hope that will not keep him out for an extended period of time.
He’ll certainly want that to be case as he insists, he’s more than happy with his choice, even if there’s nobody who speaks Spanish in the club.
“The truth is that it’s going very well, I am already very grateful to the teammates who have received me very well,” he added.
“Also, to the coach who from the beginning spoke with me before I arrived. The difficult thing is that there is no one who speaks Spanish, but that’s nothing, that also makes me improve my English a bit and I can make some jokes
“I think it is also important for me to create a good bond, to be able to integrate into the group as soon as possible, and the truth is that they made it very easy for me and I am very happy.”
