Broncos Have Another Target Available After Jets Decision on Star

Davante Adams is officially a free agent after being released by the New York Jets on Tuesday afternoon. The Jets cut ties with Adams just half a year after acquiring him for a third-round pick from the Las Vegas Raiders during the regular season.

Aaron Rodgers, who is also set for free agency this offseason, was a major reason why Adams was desired. The 3x All-Pro turned 32 this past December and is undeniably on the downslope of his playing career.

Are the Denver Broncos a potential landing spot for Adams? The former Packer played in 14 games this past season for Vegas and New York, finishing with 85 receptions for 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns. As mentioned, Adams rejoined his favorite teammate, Aaron Rodgers, but the two were ultimately unable to lead the Jets to the playoffs. According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport,

Rams roster: 5 things to know about CB Jerry Jacobs

“While the assumption has been that Davante Adams wants to play with Aaron Rodgers (and historically, that’s been the plan), my understanding is the pull of being on the West Coast is very real.”

The Broncos fit the requirements in the sense of location, but does the fit make sense for Denver and Adams?

The Broncos should be hunting for another receiver this offseason to work opposite Courtland Sutton, but Sutton and Adams’ skill set may be too similar for Denver to attack defenses with.

The times of Adams lining up in the slot are becoming less and less frequent each year, and he has almost primarily become an outside threat. As for Sutton, he’s remained an outside receiver for all of his career and is showing zero signs of slowing down after a career year with rookie quarterback Bo Nix.

Outside of Sutton, the Broncos head into free agency with Marvin Mims Jr., Troy Franklin, Devaughn Vele, A.T. Perry, and Michael Bandy as rostered wide receivers. It’s time to wait and see if Davante Adams is soon added to that list…

Broncos Predicted to Land Browns All-Pro, But Often Injured Star

The Denver Broncos enter free agency with a few needs, including the running back position. Javonte Williams is a free agent, but his numbers throughout his young career haven’t been good enough for the Broncos to justify paying him money when other, more proven players are available.

There’s still value in bringing Williams back, as he’s a great pass protector and young enough to continue to improve, but the Broncos need to improve their running game, and others could be better suited for that. Among those options is Nick Chubb, the Cleveland Browns free agent.

Adam Hulse of Sportskeeda predicted that he’d land with the Broncos, adding that Denver could continue to use multiple running backs and allow Chubb to be the full version of himself.

“The Cleveland Browns appear to be heading toward a rebuilding phase, so re-signing veteran Nick Chubb coming off of a knee injury doesn’t make a ton of sense. The Denver Broncos have been using a committee approach to their backfield, so adding Chubb in 2025 NFL free agency appears to be beneficial for both sides,” Hulse wrote.

Signing the 29-year-old and four-time Pro Bowl selection comes with risk. Chubb has had multiple knee injuries and is coming off a major foot injury that ended his season. He’s appeared in only 10 games over the past two seasons and likely isn’t the running back he once was.

However, if the Broncos get the 2022 version of the Georgia product, when he posted 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns, they’d be in a great position.
