Everton extended their unbeaten streak to nine games on Saturday afternoon as they drew 1-1 with West Ham United.
Jake O’Brien headed home a stoppage-time equaliser to cancel out Tomas Soucek’s opening goal at Goodison Park.
David Moyes‘ side have now drawn four in a row, so whilst they are resilient, there’s clearly a need for more quality going forward.
The current injuries are now starting to plague Everton, with Iliman Ndiaye, Dwight McNeil and Dominic Calvert-Lewin all sidelined.
With that said, Moyes has now given a worrying injury update on the trio.
The goals are now starting to dry up again and it’s evident that Moyes is really missing the creativity of Ndiaye.
It was initially hoped that Ndiaye would be back this month, however, Moyes has now confirmed that he won’t be available after the international break along with Dwight McNeil and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
“I don’t think we’re necessarily going to get them back after the break, so you know, we’ve got three boys, Dwight, Ili and Dom, who we could all do with seeing back but you can see what happens if you have people you can bring off the bench and people can help you get results and the subs helped us get a result today.”
With so many attacking options sidelined, Moyes should turn to one of his academy stars and hand Martin Sherif his debut.
Sherif is being tipped for a bright future by Everton coaches after impressing for the under-21s, netting four times this term.
The teenage striker has represented the Netherlands at youth level, so he’s clearly got pedigree in the academy space.
Sherif has made the bench on five occasions under Moyes
Everton continued their unbeaten run in the Premier League on Saturday, holding West Ham United.
The Toffees were minutes from defeat having trailed in the game to a Tomas Soucek goal.
But Jake O’Brien popped up in injury-time to score, and preserve Everton’s unbeaten run.
It was O’Brien’s second goal for the club, after he recently equalised against Brentford.
He was on hand to head home after a fantastic cross by Idrissa Gana Gueye.
It wasn’t the greatest performances by Everton, but ultimately, that fighting spirit was there and it was yet another point on the board under David Moyes, who applauded both Everton and West Ham fans after the game.
After the game, O’Brien took to social media to send a message to fans.
