‘No one’ – Amanda Staveley in tears as she issues brilliant message to Newcastle United supporters
Amanda Staveley has issued an emotional message to Newcastle United fans after watching their Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool.
The Magpies ended their 70-year domestic trophy drought with a 2-1 win at Wembley. Dan Burn and Alexander Isak put United 2-0 up before Federico Chiesa pulled a goal back in stoppage time.
Staveley was sat in the royal box when Newcastle lost to Manchester United two years ago but this time was among the supporters after leaving the club in the summer.
And there were tears of happiness from Staveley at the full-time whistle, while she also shared a hug with TV presenter Ant McPartlin. Staveley shared the video on Instagram along with an heartfelt message to fans.
“I just wanted to thank everyone for their incredible support to Mehrdad, Lexi and I at Wembley yesterday,” said Staveley. “We felt so privileged to share the support of all the amazing fans, and to celebrate Eddie and the team’s unbelievable performance.
“No one deserves this more – and I know this will be the first of many, many trophies. You are incredible… passionate, loyal, hardworking and most importantly Geordies. We love you all!
‘Newcastle will always be home’
Staveley is a much-loved and admired figure at Newcastle following her role in the £305million takeover of PIF in October 2021.
After a deal was finally approved by the Premier League, Staveley’s PCP Partners were handed a 10% stake in the football club and took over the day-to-day running. Alongside husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi, Staveley oversaw a major transformation as Eddie Howe’s side went from battling relegation to qualifying for the Champions League.
