Aliyah Boston makes cheeky request to Lexie Hull after winning Unrivaled Championship

Dinner’s on Lexie Hull, according to Indiana Fever teammate Aliyah Boston, after the pair did battle on opposite sides in Monday’s inaugural Unrivaled Championship game

Aliyah Boston has jokingly suggested that Indiana Fever teammate Lexie Hull should buy her dinner after winning the Unrivaled Championship in its inaugural season.

The Fever duo were on opposite sides for Monday night’s 3vs3 championship game as Hull’s Rose beat Boston’s Vinyl 62-54. Hull went scoreless in her four minutes on the court, while Boston played nine and scored 10 points with four rebounds.

The average player salary in Unrivaled’s inaugural season was over $200,000, which exceeded that of their WNBA contracts in most cases. Las Vegas Aces’ Jackie Young is the highest-paid player in the WNBA, earning just over $252,000 per year.

However, the winning team of the Unrivaled League was also handed an additional $50,000 in prize money, prompting a funny reaction from Boston, who missed out on the extra cash. Boston suggested that Fever co-star Hull take her out for dinner and foot the bill.

“@lexiehulll dinner on you maybe?” Boston said on social media platform X, accompanied by a smiley teary-eyed emoji. As for the Rose, Chelsea Gray was crowned Unrivaled playoff MVP after getting her mojo back following a disappointing 2024 WNBA campaign.

Gray scored 18 points and provided eight assists for the Rose, who were without Chicago Sky rebound Queen Angel Reese. The 32-year-old admitted she came into Unrivaled with a chip on her shoulder and a point to prove. “Hell yeah, there was motivation,” Gray said.

“Last year was hard. It was rough. Even when I came back I wasn’t 100 percent. A lot of people thought I was. I put the work in, I do my job and then I talk after. … I want to compete and make others better. That’s always been my goal. So yeah, I had a little chip on my shoulder and also that 50K on the line.”

Azura Stevens was left to cover for Reese, who sat out a second-straight game with a hand injury. Stevens’ efforts on defense were highlighted by Gray. “I knew they were going to put two on the ball, so I said, Z, if you roll, I’m going to hit you every time,” Gray said of Stevens. “Z was so efficient tonight. She was huge. Getting inside the paint, rolling and playing defense. I am really proud of her. She was sprinting into screens, making herself available and she knew I would pass her the basketball if she was open.”

“Without Angel, we knew we had to step it up,” Stevens herself said. “As the other big, I had to step up.”
